Is there really a ski club in Savannah, GA?
Yes...there is an active club in Savannah. This volunteer driven, non-profit organization was formed in the late 1960's and incorporated in 1971. We have about 60-75 active members and sponsor 2-3 ski trips each year in addition to numerous other activities. The Savannah club is also a member of the Crescent Ski Council, a group of 22 Southeastern ski clubs with almost 6000 members, and membership in our club allows you to participate in those other clubs' activities and to join trips organized by the CSC.
Would you like to know more about The Savannah Ski & Adventure Club? Following are some frequently asked questions:
Why should I join the club? Join the Savannah Ski & Adventure Club and meet people who enjoy snow skiing (or snowboarding) as much as you do, and who enjoy helping others learn to enjoy the sport. Learn about our trips, get tips on technique, learn about physical preparation, and see the latest ski and boarding gear and accessories at monthly meetings (September through April). Members also receive a monthly alert (August through April) providing information on ski trips and other events planned by the club (e.g., river rafting trips, scuba trips, New York shopping/theater, oyster roasts, low-country boils, etc.).
How much does it cost? Yearly membership fees are $45 for a family membership and $30 for single membership. The membership year is September 1 to August 31. You can join by filling out a printed copy of our Membership Application and mailing it, along with your dues, to our P.O. box.
How can I save money on my next ski trip? You can do so by taking advantage of our group pricing.
How do I sign-up for ski trips? Each Spring, the club will announce trips for the year and we start booking at that time for the upcoming season. Deposits are required to secure participation. Board members will determine the number of spaces to be held or may decide to cancel a trip based on the number of deposits paid by members on or before announced cut-off dates.
How often are meetings held? Regular meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the following months: September, October, November (2nd Tue), January, February, March, and April at Tubby's Tank House on River Drive in Thunderbolt, GA. Occasionally we substitute an oyster roast or low country boil for a meeting or have an alternate event at another site.
How will I know about meetings and where they will be held? Each member (single or family) will receive a monthly email alert and a reminder to check this website at least one week prior to each meeting or special event. A calendar of events and recent news will also be posted on this website.
Can I bring guests to meetings or outings? Yes, we welcome guests to our meetings and social events. However, only members may participate in trips (ski, rafting, scuba, etc.) or receive club discounts.
How can I contact the Savannah Ski & Adventure Club? Emails may be sent to SavhSkiClub@bellsouth.net or questions may be addressed to any board member (see Officers page).
